This coastal Viognier is grown on the Valenti Ranch six miles from the Pacific on an east facing steep slope. The soils are ancient ocean floor that consist mainly of sandstone based structures with a considerable amount of quartz, chert and shale. 2023 was a cooler vintage so this means more hang time in moderate temperatures. At 13.4% this elegant Viognier might take you by surprise if you are expecting a more voluptuous wine. This is not your over the top California Viognier. We love the lighter weight with a bit more acidity which is perfect with seared scallops or oysters on the half shell. Honeysuckle and lime zest on the nose and honeydew, apricots and wet stones on the palate. This is a delightful wine that we are proud to share. It is available for a short window of time.
