2023 Estate Field Selections Pinot Noir
At three miles from the ocean and 1200ft elevation, our coastal estate vineyard sits on a south west to south eastern slope of 15% on the north western flank of the Greenwood Ridge. With direct influence from the Pacific Ocean to our west, this is the coldest vineyard in our portfolio. The 2023 Field Selections is selected from the top barrels in our cellar. We select for transparency of site, complexity and refinement, primarily from three blocks within the Ornbaun soil series, a darker colored sandstone based soil due to more iron and shale content. The expression is nuanced, refined and savory with distinctive coastal forest character along with perfumed aromas of wild roses, French plums and warm exotic spices, as well petrichor, wet stones and black truffle on the long savory finish. A classic coastal Pinot Noir from a stunning colder vintage, we are thrilled to share. Pair with Seared Duck Breast or Mushroom Risotto.
