The Valenti Ranch is located along the west ridge of Anderson Valley in the Mendocino Coast Ridge area aka the Mendocino Ridge AVA. The Mendocino Ridge encompasses only the coastal ridge tops in westernmost Mendocino County. At six miles from the ocean and at elevation of 1400 feet, this east-facing steep hillside produces a compelling single vineyard Pinot Noir. The sandy and rocky oceanic soils coupled with varied clonal and heritage field selections of Pinot Noir produce a savory highly toned and elegant Pinot Noir. The 2023 vintage hails from the 828, the Pommard and the Rochioli blocks located on the lower and cooler east-facing slope. This 2023 leads with aromas of French plums, sandalwood, and exotic spices. The palate is dark and savory yet buoyant and lifted with dark plums, rose hips, forest mushrooms, and minerals with mouth-watering acidity and velvety tannins. An exquisite vintage from this site that deserves some time in your cellar to unfold its layers. Pair with Roasted Game Hen or Sautéed Black Cod.
