2019 Estate Mid Slope Pinot Noir
The Estate Mid Slope Pinot Noir is our Vin de Garde bottling and given an extended barrel elevage of 18 months. This estate wine is focused on a single block planted to the Dijon 943 clone on the mid slope of our hillside coastal vineyard. This clone originates from the Côte-d’Or department of Burgundy and is known for small loose clusters with tiny berries, often producing half of what other Dijon clones do. This translates to darker color , more flavor intensity and structure. Employing 100% whole clusters in the fermentation Jason has crafted a gorgeous Pinot Noir of distinction from our coastal site . We are able to achieve a full spectrum of savory dark red fruits, spice and forest character with the bones and acidity to go the long haul. This vintage combines both power and an ethereal quality that is signature to this site. Exotic plums, wild huckleberry, fir tips ,black truffle notes and wet rocks are interwoven in layers that continue to unfold. Pair with a Cassoulet on cold rainy night by the fire with the one you love.
