2022 Valenti Ranch Pinot Noir
The Valenti Ranch is located along the west ridge of Anderson Valley in what is called the Mendocino Coast Ridge area or the Mendocino Ridge AVA. The Mendocino Ridge AVA encompasses only the coastal ridge tops located west of Anderson Valley and north of the West Sonoma Coast. We have a long history with the Valenti Ranch as we have been working with this site for over 16 years. In a nutshell, we are fans of this coastal ridge top site. At 6 miles from the ocean and at an elevation of 1400 to 1600 ft, this east facing steep hillside produces a compelling single vineyard Pinot Noir. The thin oceanic soils coupled with varied clonal and heritage field selections of Pinot Noir produces a gorgeous distinctive single vineyard bottling. Deep red fruit and savory mushrooms along with coastal forest umami character along with exotic spice are at play here. A stellar vintage from this coastal site.
